Titans Continue Play in Chicago with Match-Up at UIC on Jan. 5

SERIES RECORD

Detroit holds a slight 18-15 advantage in the overall series with UIC and when playing on the Flames home court the series is even at six a piece. These two teams split last year as UIC defeated UDM by a score of 66-36 on Feb. 2 in Chicago and the Titans went on to claim a 55-51 victory in Detroit on Feb. 28. The last time the Titans defeated UIC in Chicago was on Jan. 31, 2004 by a score of 61-47.

ABOUT UIC
UIC owns a 7-4 overall mark and are 6-2 when playing at UIC Pavilion this season. The Flames are currently on a two-game winning streak, which includes a 60-47 Horizon League opening win against Wright State in Chicago on Jan. 3. Jessie Miller averages a team-best and is third among conference peers with 14.3 ppg, while Jasmine Bailey leads the Flames with 7.5 rebounds per contest.

DOUBLE OR NOTHING
Two Titans registered double-doubles against Loyola on Jan. 3 in redshirt freshman Talicia Washington and senior Sandi Brown. Washington scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Brown pulled down a game-high 11 caroms and poured in 12 points.

REBOUNDS A PLENTY
As a team, the Titans had 10 more rebounds than Loyola on Jan. 3, which marks the largest advantage for Detroit in this category thus far this season.

GIVING TO CHARITY
The Titans made a season-high 22 free throws against Loyola on Jan. 3 and ended with a 67 percent showing from the line. In the final 34 seconds against the Ramblers, Detroit made seven of eight free throw attempts to help secure its first Horizon League victory of the season.

OPEN SESAME
Detroit claimed a 71-64 victory over Loyola on Jan. 3, which marks the first time the Titans have won their league opener on the road since the conference changed its name to the Horizon League (2001-02). The last time UDM won its first conference game of the season was on Dec. 28, 2004 when the Titans claimed a 67-43 victory against Youngstown State in Detroit.

NOBODY IS PERFECT?
Redshirt freshman Talicia Washington made all six attempts at the charity stripe on Jan. 3 against Loyola.

THREE'S COMPANY
Three Titans have scored in double figures in a single game on six occasions through 12 contests: at Cincinnati (Nov. 14), vs. Georgia (Nov. 22), at Colgate (Nov. 29), at Eastern Michigan (Dec. 20), at Canisius (Dec. 28) and at Loyola (Jan. 3). The double-overtime win at EMU had six Detroit players score in double figures, which stands as a season-high.

ANOTHER FIRST
In her first Horizon League game at the helm of the Detroit Titans women's basketball program, head coach Autumn Rademacher notched a 71-64 win at Loyola on Jan. 3.

START YOUR ENGINES
Two Titans have started every game for Detroit this season in junior Brigid Mulroy and freshman Jalesa Jones. Mulroy is averaging a team-best 12.1 points per game, while Jones has tallied a team-high 43 assists through 12 games.

LAST TIME OUT
Made free throws down the stretch proved to be key for Detroit as the Titans held on to win its Horizon League opener by a score of 71-64 against Loyola on Jan. 3 at the Gentile Center in Chicago, IL.

Detroit had a 14 point lead with just over five minutes left (58-44), but Loyola managed to cut the deficit to four with 20 seconds remaining after junior Keisha Collins made one from long range (68-64), which proceeded two made free throws from UDM junior Brigid Mulroy. In the closing seconds, redshirt freshman Talicia Washington made both of her attempts at the line, while junior Chanica Hall tacked on another point to help secure the Titans victory. Washington ended the game not having missed any from the charity stripe (6-of-6).

Detroit led almost the entire game, with the exception of two ties in the first half and when Loyola had a 6-5 advantage at the 16:34 mark. With the score tied at eight, Detroit went on a 5-0 scoring run, which included three points from senior Sandi Brown. During this stretch, UDM kept the Ramblers scoreless for 5:49 before junior Shannon Finnegan netted a 2-point field goal at 9:17 and then went on to score the next nine points for Loyola.

Washington, who ended with a team-high 14 points, scored two-straight baskets to give the Titans a five-point lead both times, with the last coming at 5:44 off of an assist from Brown to put the score at 19-14. Loyola knotted the score at 23 in the closing minutes, but senior Dominica Whittaker made one of her attempts at the line and senior Zemora Davis hit a jumper to help the Titans head into the break with a 26-23 advantage over the Ramblers.

For the first time this season, Detroit had two players record double-doubles as Brown grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and scored a team second-best 12 points, while Washington added 10 caroms for her first career double-double. Mulroy scored in double figures for the eighth time this season as she poured in 11 points, while Hall dished out a team-high four helpers.

WHERE ARE THE TITANS?
Prior to the game on Jan. 4, junior Brigid Mulroy was 12th among conference peers in scoring average (12.1 ppg), while senior Sandi Brown stood at 18th (10.9 ppg). In addition, Mulroy was eighth in 3-point FG percentage (.378) and third in 3-pointers made (2.3). In addition, freshman Jalesa Jones was fifth with 3.6 assists per contest.

TWO EXTRA SESSIONS
Prior to Detroit's 76-75 double-overtime win at Eastern on Dec. 20, 2008, the last time the Titans played in a double overtime contest was a 107-102 setback to Kentucky on Dec. 28, 1983 in Detroit.

PLENTY OF POINTS
The 76 point showing at Eastern Michigan on Dec. 20 marks the most points the Titans have scored in a single game since a 78-65 victory against Wright State in Detroit on Feb. 19, 2004.

FROM THE FIELD
The Titans shot a season second-best 45 percent from the field at Eastern Michigan on Dec. 20. Detroit's best field goal percentage showing thus far this season was a 48 percent effort against #23 Georgia in Detroit on Nov. 22.

VS. RANKED TEAMS
The Detroit Titans made history on Nov. 22 as UDM defeated #23 Georgia by a score of 70-66 at Calihan Hall. This marked the first time since the conference changed its name to the Horizon League (2001-02) in which the Titans defeated a ranked opponent. UDM now owns a 1-11 mark in this category.

GOING BACK IN TIME
Detroit's win over Southeastern Conference member school, Georgia, was the first win against an SEC school since Nov. 23, 1979 when the Titans defeated Louisiana State by a score of 84-76 in Detroit. Prior to Saturday's victory, the Titans had lost 13 straight to SEC schools.

COACHING DEBUT AT HOME
Autumn Rademacher coached her first game for the Titans on UDM's home court against #23 Georgia and Detroit came out on the winning end, 70-66. Since the start of UDM women's basketball (1977-78), Rademacher and the eight full-time head coaches prior, now own a collective 4-5 record in their coaching debut on Detroit's home court.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
Freshman Lauren Allen collected her first career double-double as she netted a team third-best 13 points and tied for a game-high 11 rebounds against Georgia (Nov. 22). Allen also dished out a team second-best five assists.

DETROIT INKS THREE
UDM head coach Autumn Rademacher announced that three student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Titans, beginning with the 2009-10 season. The signees are: Demeisha Fambro (G, 5-9, Detroit, MI/Crockett Tech), Kassandra Hooten (F, 6-0, Moorhead, MN/Moorhead) and Cherridy Thornton (F, 6-1, Detroit, MI/Frank Cody Senior).

FINAL FOUR IN DETROIT
The University of Detroit Mercy will serve as the host institution for the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Final Four, which will be held on April 4 & 6, 2009 at Ford Field in Detroit, MI.
