DeMarco Leads Titans After First Day At William & Mary

First Round standings

Sophomore Jackie DeMarco (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) posted an opening-round 79 and the Titan women's golfers stand 11th as a team after Day 1 at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary at Ford's Colony Country Club.

Detroit shot 330 as a team on Saturday to trail 10th-place Georgetown by four shots while also sitting a single stroke ahead of Siena, which holds down 12th. St. John's (307) leads the field after one round.

DeMarco stands in a 24th-place deadlock on the individual leader board. Senior teammate Alex Aversa (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) is one shot back at 80 and shares 28th, while junior Alainna Stefan (Dearborn, MI/Mercy) is next in line for Detroit after putting together a card of 83. That gives Stefan a share of 49th.

The 21-team field will play the final 18 holes of the tournament on Sunday morning.
