Nino Sujashvili was named to the All-Horizon League second team Friday (April 26) at the annual tennis banquet held at the Riverwalk Banquet Center in Indianapolis.
Sujashvili finished the regular season with a singles record of 17-5 and was 4-1 in dual matches in league play. She racked up a 10-2 record in doubles play, earning six wins in the Horizon League. She finished the year with four-straight singles wins in conference play with two wins in both first and second singles that included a 6-1, 6-3 win against Milwaukee to secure the fourth seed in the Horizon League Championships
In doubles play, Sujashvili had a pair of wins with
Julia Fernandes at first doubles coming against Cleveland State and Wright State. After moving down to second doubles with
Irina Slizovskaya, she helped Detroit break UIC's streak of 146-consecutive conference wins with an 8-4 win. She ended the year with wins at Valparaiso, Green bay and Milwaukee.
The Titans will continue the Horizon League Championships with a match against defending champion and No. 1 seeded UIC at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
