Prendergast was the captain of the 1948 baseball team and was a great all-around athlete who won four baseball letters. He posted a career batting average of .376 and was named the Varsity News Athlete of the Year in 1944. His average of .459 in 1944 sits as the third best single-season mark in Titan history.
