A three-year member of the Titan basketball team, he was the only two-time captain in Bob Calihan’s 21 years as head coach. He had his best season in 1954 as a junior when he played in all but one of U-D’s 28 contests and averaged 8.8 points per game. As a senior, he helped the Titans to a 15-11 record with a 6.6 scoring average. A physical player inside, he ended up second on the team in free throw percentage for the 1955 campaign as he hit on 65 percent of his charity tosses.
