Lloyd “Braz” Brazil dedicated his lifetime to athletics at the University of Detroit. U-D’s gridiron record during his varsity career was 23-3-1. Brazil was named to the 1928 All-America team. During 39 years here, Brazil served as Director of Athletics, business administrator, head basketball and baseball coach and chairman of the athletic board. In his native Flint, Michigan, Brazil was a three-time All-State player at Central High School. A plaque which sits outside the main entrance to Calihan Hall by the athletic offices was dedicated in his honor as a great athlete, coach and gentleman in 1969.
