One of the best women's soccer players to wear the red, white, and blue at Detroit, Mary Parker (Latham) was a four-time All-Conference first team selection (2003-06) and won Horizon League Player of the Year honors as a sophomore in 2004 and senior in 2006.
The Titans won 43 matches during Latham's four seasons, reaching the Horizon League Championship game all four years and advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2004 after winning the tournament title over Milwaukee.
She led the conference in goals and points for three consecutive seasons (2004, 2005, 2006) and was also named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team all four seasons, while being named the Tournament MVP as a freshman in 2003.
Parker was a member of the 2004 Horizon League Championship team, which is the only team (other than men's basketball) to win an NCAA Tournament game with a 3-2 win over Michigan.
Parker finished her collegiate career with 47 goals, 17 assists and 111 points at Detroit and was named the Horizon League Tournament MVP in 2003. At the time of her induction, she ranked third in program history in goals and fourth in points. Both totals are the most for any player who began their career in the 2000 season or later.
Parker also holds single-game Horizon League records with five goals and 12 points in a 2004 match against Cleveland State. She scored 10 goals in a season three times during her career, totaling 16 goals in 2004 and a career-high 17 goals during her senior season in 2006.
Not only did she score goals during her Titan career, but she scored important ones. Parker tallied 18 game-winning goals, easily the most in school history at the time of her induction in 2014. She had at least four game-winning goals each season. All four of her goals as a freshman in 2003 were of the game-winning variety and she had two seasons with five game-winners.
Her academic honors included a two-time selection to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team (2005-06), CoSIDA All-American First Team (2006), NSCAA/adidas College Women Scholar All-America (2006) and the NSCAA/adidas College Women Scholar All-Central Region (2006). She was also tabbed to the Soccer Buzz All-Great Lakes Region First Team (2006), Second Team (2005) and Third Team (2004).
