Bibeau was the NCAA’s national batting champion in 1961 with a .483 average and he also had a near-perfect fielding percentage of .995 playing centerfield the same year. His career batting average of .379, places him fourth on the career batting list while his single-season mark of .483 in 1961 stands as Detroit’s best. He also stole 43 career bases, second on the career list behind Bill Turnkington and he led U-D to four straight NCAA District 4 playoff appearances.
