Kocsis is number three all-time in golfing stroke average at U-D with a mark of 75.16, carved out during 51 rounds of competition. He was the team scoring medalist in both his sophomore and junior years, and captained the Titans as a senior. He placed fifth in the 1949 Missouri Valley Conference championships and then moved up to second in 1950, helping the Titans to second place in team competition. Later, he finished as a medalist in the 1951 NCAA Championships two-day qualifying round thanks largely to a course record 67 he fired on the Ohio State “Scarlet” Course.
