East Lansing, Mich. (10/18/12) -- Pablo Nunez led the University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team with the only win in the qualifying singles round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships on Thursday afternoon at Michigan State.

Nunez defeated Ben Broker from Toledo in straight sets (7-5, 7-6) before being defeated himself by Craig Cox from Wisconsin (7-5, 6-2).

Chris Cheung, Mike Basha and Alex Latosinsky all fell in straight sets in the first round.

The qualifying round will conclude Friday before the doubles round of 64 gets underway on Friday at 11:00 a.m.  

Cheung and Larry Brown will team up to face the pair of Kang and Freitas from IPFW.  Latosinsky and Basha will face the team of Pfister and Lied from  Michigan State while Nunez and Jay Joshi round out the card against the pair of Levsink and Feiler from DePaul.
