DETROIT (9/25/12) -- The Detroit Titans men's soccer team has been ranked No. 10 in the Great Lakes Region by the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA) after going 2-0 last week and winning four of its previous five games, including three in a row.
The Titans defeated Cleveland State on Saturday, 3-1, who was picked to finish second in the Horizon League, and took a 2-0 road decision from Bowling Green on Tuesday.
The Titans have the highest scoring offense in the Horizon League, and one of the best in the nation. They lead the conference in goals (16), assists (14) and points (46) and are currently tied for 33rd in the NCAA in both goals and assists.
UDM is led by junior midfielder
Adam Bedell who has earned the Horizon League Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the past three weeks, a first in the HL. He is currently tied for eighth in the NCAA with seven goals and is tied for 12th with 16 points while leading the conference in both categories. He scored a goal at BGSU and added two more in the Horizon League matchup against Cleveland State to extend his goal streak to six games, notching seven goals.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Nathan Steinwascher anchors the defense and was named Horizon League Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after making six saves and earning two wins, including a shutout. He made five saves to blank Bowling Green on the road and the only goal he allowed was on a penalty kick late in the game against Cleveland State. He currently leads the Horizon League with 41 saves.
Detroit will take this week off and return to the pitch when it hosts Oakland on Wednesday, October 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Titan Field.
