INDIANAPOLIS (2/24/2022) -- Add another academic award to the resume for senior
Antoine Davis as the University of Detroit Mercy guard was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team on Thursday.
Davis is the first Titan on the basketball HL All-Academic Team since
Evan Bruinsma and
Ugochukwu Njoku in 2013-14.
The award comes on the heels of him earning CoSIDA Academic All‐District® 5 Men's Basketball Team, the first Titan men's basketball player to take home the honor in school history.
Davis is a Communications major with a 3.39 GPA. He is a member of the Detroit Mercy's Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Horizon League Spring Academic Honor Roll.
He is currently third in the nation in scoring at 23.5 points per game, second in three-point games (3.96), sixth with 93 total 3-pointers, ninth with 565 total points and 70th with a 37.3 three-point field-goal percentage.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
Davis and the Titans will be back on the court tonight when they take on Cleveland State at 7:00 p.m.
