Cleary Wraps Up Sophomore Season At NCAA Mideast Regional

2009 Mideast Regional 100m Results in pdf.

Earnest Cleary (Detroit, MI/Ferndale) ended his sophomore season the same way he ended his freshman campaign, on a high note as the Titan sprinter competed in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Mideast Regional on Friday afternoon at the University of Louisville.

Cleary ran in the first of four heats in the event, finishing in 10.93. With the finals slated for each heat winner plus the next four best times, Cleary fell short of Saturday's 100m championship. D'Angelo Cherry of Mississippi State won the heat in 10.21, while Marcus Rowland of Auburn recorded the best time in the preliminaries winning heat four in 10.16.

With the end of the season, Cleary put forth another great year which saw him win the Horizon League's 100m outdoor championship. This comes on the heels of his rookie year, where he was tabbed the HL's Newcomer of the Year in running events for both the indoor and outdoor season after earning All-League honors for his runner-up performance in the indoor 60 and outdoor 100m.
