Freshman Joel Matthews (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross Secondary) was named one of the top 10 freshmen in the NCAA through the first month of the season by Inside Lacrosse.

The publication updates all freshmen ranking every three weeks with today being the initial release.

Matthews leads the Titans in scoring with 12 goals and three assists in Detroit's three games. He is currently tied for seventh in the country with 5.0 points per game as well as tied for fourth with 4.0 goals per game. In both categories, he leads all rookies.

Also making some waves in national rankings were freshmen Jamie Hebden (Farmington Hills, MI/Brother Rice), Jordan Houtby (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross Secondary), and junior Matt Gregson (Flint, MI/Powers Catholic). Hebden is 16th with 2.0 caused turnovers per game. Houtby is also among the leaders in caused turnovers at 26th with 1.67 per game and is 47th in groundballs with 4.0 per game, while Gregson is 83rd tallying 3.33 GB's per contest.

The Titans return to action this weekend when Detroit visits Robert Morris on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m., contest at Joe Walton Stadium.
