Kennedy To Take His Game To Europe

Thomas Kennedy made a name for himself everywhere he has played and now the 2010 Titan team MVP plans to do the same overseas as he became the fourth UDM player in just two seasons under head coach Ray McCallum to move on to the professional ranks.

Kennedy announced that he has signed to play with Dombovar KC in the Hungary A Division. He will leave for Europe in September as the team trains for its season, which begins in October.

“I am excited to move on and play professional basketball,” said Kennedy. “It is something that I always wanted to do. It was a long process in hiring an agent and seeing and evaluating all the offers, but I believe this is the best place for me to start my career.”

A two-year starter for Detroit after a NJCAA All-American career at Mott Community College, Kennedy played in 64 games, with 63 starts, for UDM, averaging 11.4 ppg. He scored in double figures 39 times in his two seasons including twice netting a career-high 24 points, both during his junior campaign. As a senior, he was named the Robert Calihan Most Valuable Player after tallying 11.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while shooting over 45 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line.

Kennedy joins former teammates Jason Bennett and Michael Harrington, who have also played overseas, as well as Chris Hayes, who was drafted by the NBDL Los Angeles D-Fenders in 2009, as the quartet of Detroit players in the last two years that have pursued pro careers.
