TOLEDO (10/12/12) - The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team is tied for second at the Rocket Invite after day one of competition.
The Titans swept Toledo in doubles with
Elena Strakhova and Valeryia Kulikouskaya winning 8-6,
Julia Fernandes and
Nino Sujashvili posting a 9-7 victory and
Raina Halabi and
Chloe Karoub taking the third match, 8-3.
In A singles, Detroit dropped a point to Bowling Green, but Sujashvili took her match 2-6, 6-2, 10-8.
The Titans were able to steal a point from the Rockets in A singles as Sujashvili won 6-4, 6-3, while Kulikouskaya earned a 6-3, 6-3 triumph.
Bowling Green leads the tournament with four points, while UT and UDM are tied for second with two points apiece. The Rocket Invite will continue tomorrow.
