Men’s Lacrosse Announces Team Captains

DETROIT (12/26/12) -- Seniors Jamie Hebden, Andrew Khalil and Chris Nemes have all been part of UDM's rise in lacrosse the last few years and now all three will serve as teams captains for the upcoming season.

“This is a strong group of senior leaders who are poised to lead this team to our ultimate goal, a MAAC championship,” said head coach Matt Holtz.

The appointment of captain is the second for Hebden, while Khalil and Nemes earn the honor for the first time in their careers.

Hebden has been a standout defenseman for Detroit since he arrived on campus and has played in 45 games with 44 starts. He is coming off back-to-back seasons in which he has earned All-MAAC Second Team honors and he enters his final collegiate season with the second most caused turnovers in the nation among active players with 85, while also recording 126 ground balls.

Khalil has been a reserve LSM/defenseman for UDM in his two active seasons in 2010 and 2012, and has seen a lot of time in the Titans' man-down units. He has played in 16 career games and has four GB's and three caused turnovers so far in his career.

Nemes, a midfielder, has seen action in 46 career games and has 21 goals and 27 points in his career along with 33 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. He had back-to-back 10-goal campaigns as a freshman and sophomore, with six of those coming with the man down.

Detroit will be back from Christmas break at the beginning of January and will then begin practice for its fifth season of varsity lacrosse.
