Titans Do It Again, Lead The Nation In Caused Turnovers

INDIANAPOLIS -- For the second year in a row, the University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse aggressive team defense propelled the Titans to lead the nation in caused turnovers as the NCAA released its final end of the year statistics for 2012.

The Titans finished first with 10.47 caused turnovers per game after leading that stat with 11.63 per game last season. UDM was also third in the nation in 2010 tallying 10.47 per contest.

Leading the way in that category was junior Jordan Houtby (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) as the MAAC LSM of the Year was second in the nation – also for the second year in a row - producing 2.53 per game, while junior defenseman Jamie Hebden (Farmington Hills, MI/Brother Rice) was 35th posting 1.32.

Houtby also finished 33rd corralling 4.4 ground balls per game.

UDM finished in the top 10 in saves per game (11.73), 12th in ground balls (32.27) and 13th in man-down defense (.738).

Sophomore attacker and Second Team All-MAAC selection Shayne Adams (St. Catharines, ON/Denis Morris) was 24th in the nation with 2.2 goals per game and 57th with a .359 shooting percentage.  Sophomore attacker Alex Maini (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) was 64th in that category (.351), while senior midfielder Scott Harris (Saline, MI/Saline) was 71st (.346).

Junior goalie A.J. Levell (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) was 13th in Division I with 10.86 saves per game and 20th in saves percentage (.541).
