Former Titan Coach Don Sicko to Attend Legends & Traditions Weekend

DETROIT (9/20/12) -- Former Detroit Titan head men's basketball coach Don Sicko will be one of many honored guest attending the Titans Legends & Traditions Weekend that will take place on September 21-22 at Calihan Hall. The event will feature legends dating back to the 1950's.

Coach Sicko is best remembered by the Titan faithful for his 1984-85 squad that finished the season 16-12 overall, including a 71-66 win over then No. 4 ranked Memphis State. Future NBA Draft picks Greg Wendt '86 and Keith Gray '85 led the Titans that game as the pair combined for 44 points.

Sicko served as the Titans head coach for five years and was named the MCC Coach of the Year in 1986 after finishing 7-5 in the regular season, followed by a win over Evansville in the first round of the MCC Tournament.

The Titan tradition includes 104 seasons of basketball with 1,326 wins, 21 NBA/ABA draft picks, 17 All-American selections, 12 post-season appearances, three Horizon League Tournament Championships and two Horizon League Regular Season titles. Each Titan contributed to these accomplishments and deserves to be celebrated.
