DETROIT (12/23/2013) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team went into the Holidays with a smile on its face as the Titans dominated from beginning to end in a 93-50 victory over the Indiana Tech Warriors on Monday at historic Calihan Hall.

Four Titans (6-8) scored in double figures as the team shot over 50.0% from the field (33-of-63), including 13-of-26 from behind the arc, and holding Indiana Tech (10-4) to just 26.7% (16-of-60).

Junior co-captain Juwan Howard Jr. led the way with a game-high 22 points, while sophomore Anton Wilson continued his torrid three-point shooting nailing six treys and finishing with 18 points. Junior Patrick Onwenu tallied his first collegiate double-double with a career-best 17 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman Matthew Grant added 10 points and five boards off the bench.

The only time Detroit was behind in the contest was 2-1 before UDM began its onslaught by scoring 11-straight points. It was the three-point shooting that was hot from the start as Howard hit two in that span as well as one from redshirt sophomore Carlton Brundidge.

Indiana Tech then scored five in a row to cut the lead to 12-7 at the 15:07 mark, but a 19-3 spurt over the next six minutes by the Titans quickly put the game away as the red, white and blue took a 21-point lead, 31-10.

UDM never looked back as it extended the lead to as many as 34 in the first half, 55-21, before taking a 58-25 advantage at the break.

The Titans shot 61.8% (21-of-34) in the first 20 minutes as they also controlled the boards to the tune of a 30-7 advantage.

Detroit started the second half like it ended the first, with an offense push, as Brundidge hit a three and Howard went inside for two for a 63-25 score, and the Titans later ran their lead to 40, 68-28, as senior Jermaine Lippert ignited the fans with a dunk, with 18:05 left.

The Warriors never rallied to even make the game close as they trimmed the lead to 32, 81-49, with 6:32 left, but Detroit ended the game on a 12-1 charge for the 43-point triumph.

Senior Evan Bruinsma ended the game with four points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Jarod Williams totaled nine points, four rebounds and a game and career-high five assists. Lippert totaled six points and four boards and Brundidge netted seven points with two assists and two blocks.

Detroit owned the boards, 49-29, and had a great 24-9 advantage on second chance points.

The Titans will now get a few days off to celebrate Christmas before getting back to work next Monday, Dec. 30, with a UDM doubleheader as the Detroit women face Madonna at 5:00 p.m., before the men host Bethune-Cookman at 7:30.
