EDISON, N.J. (2/18/2013) -- Detroit senior captain
Jamie Hebden was all over the defensive field against Navy last Friday and for his effort, he was recognized by the MAAC as the Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Hebden tied his career high with five caused turnovers and picked up five ground balls in the loss at Navy. His first caused turnover ignited a Titan score as he intercepted a pass on defense and streaked down the field before finding
Shayne Adams, who put one past the goalie for a 1-0 lead. It was his second career assist and the first since his freshman year.
A four-year starter and two-time Second Team All-MAAC performer, Hebden came into the season tied for second in the nation among active players with 85 caused turnovers and he currently leads the team with six caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
It is the second week in a row that the Titans have won a weekly conference award as freshman
Ryan Callaghan was named the league's Rookie of the Week on Feb. 11. It is also the first time in Hebden's career that he has earned the Defensive Player of the Week and the sixth time a Titan has won the honor as senior netminder
A.J. Levell has been tabbed three times, while senior LSM
Jordan Houtby has been selected twice.
Detroit will return to action this week when the red, white and blue head to Moon Township, Pa., to face Robert Morris. Game time is set for Noon.
