MACON, Ga. (2/18/2013) -- Senior captain
Zaynib Hamze of the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team was recognized as one of the Atlantic Sun Co-Defensive Players of the Week on Monday.
In the season opener Saturday at Robert Morris, Hamze had three caused turnovers, three ground balls, gathered one draw control, and added an assist on UDM's first goal of the 2013 season that came off the stick of
Michaela Schwartz.
Hamze also took four shots as the Titans fell by a 13-7 score Saturday in Moon Township, Pa. against the Robert Morris Colonials.
Hamze becomes the first Titan to receive an Atlantic Sun accolade as this is the first year of competition for Detroit in the conference.
Detroit will continue the 2013 season this weekend with a pair of road games with a contest at Siena Friday at noon and another game at Delaware State Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
