CIT Mid-Major Poll
MACON, Ga. (2/19/13) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team finished with a perfect 2-0 record last week, capped by a remarkable comeback win at Valparaiso, to be ranked for the second time this season in the CollegeInsider.com Men's Mid-Major Top 25 released this week.
The Titans totaled 142 points in this week's edition of the poll, which ranks 20th overall, second in the Horizon League behind Valpo 12th (415). The 132-point increase by the Titans was the largest jump in the poll.
Detroit (18-9, 10-4 HL) collected two wins to move within a half-game of first-place Valparaiso atop the conference after rolling past Cleveland State, 92-62, and shocking the Crusaders, 84-74.
The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.
ESPN's Andy Katz also named the Titans the “Team of the Week”.
Detroit will visit Wichita State on Saturday, Feb. 23 as part of the Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. ET at Charles Koch Arena and will be televised live on ESPN2.
