UDM Hits The Road Again To Face Robert Morris

GAMEDAY CENTRAL       Game Notes

DETROIT (2/22/2013) --
In search of their first win of the 2013 season, the Detroit Titans will hit the road for the third-straight game as UDM makes the short trek to Moon Township, Pa., to battle the Colonials of Robert Morris on Saturday. Game time is set for Noon at Joe Walton Stadium.

There will be free live stats for this event as well as a live video feed, available for a small fee. Titan fans can follow every UDM game this season through the men's lacrosse GAMEDAY CENTRAL page located on the Titans Athletic Website that will keep fans one click away from all the action. This page will feature links for live stats (audio and video when applicable) as well as links for all the latest info while also making it easy to find the Titans on social media and to purchase photos and game tickets.

The Titans are 0-2 on the season after falling to Navy, 11-7, last Friday. Junior Shayne Adams had four goals and five points to lead the offense, while senior Jamie Hebden tallied five caused turnovers and five ground balls with an assist en route to being named the MAAC's Defensive Player of the Week.

Adams leads the team with eight points and six goals. Sophomore Mike Birney has four goals, which accounts for all four of his points, while junior Alex Maini has posted three goals and two assists on the season. Defensively, Hebden has a team-high six caused turnovers and seven ground balls and senior Tyler Corcoran has won 11-of-22 faceoffs with six GB's.

This will be RMU's third-straight home game to open the 2013 campaign as the Colonials have split the first two losing to Bellarmine, 9-8, before rebounding and beating UMBC, 12-9, last Saturday. Robert Morris was 11-4 last season and won the NEC regular-season title, but fell in the NEC championship to Mount St. Mary's, 16-15.

The Colonials lost their leading scorer from a year ago in Kiel Matisz (40g, 24a, 64p). Eric Rankel currently leads the team in scoring with six goals and nine points. Luke Laszkiewicz has five goals and six points, while Charles Ruppert has made 28 saves and has a 9.04 goals against average through the first two games.

Detroit is 0-3 all-time against Robert Morris, with two of the three losses coming on the road. The last time these two squads faced off, the Titans were edged in overtime, 14-13, at home after coming back from a 6-2 deficit after one and trailing 13-10 after three periods before outscoring the Colonials 3-0 in the final stanza. RMU would then post the game winner with 1:35 left in the extra session.

The other two contests took place on the road as UDM dropped an 18-8 decision in 2009 and a 16-5 game the following year.

This will be the final game before the Titans home opener next week, Mar. 2, when the red, white and blue host Quinnipiac at 11:00 a.m., at Titan Field.
