CHICAGO (2/22/2013) --
The Titan women's basketball team will look to avoid leaving Chicago empty handed as Detroit tries for the Windy City split when it faces UIC on Saturday. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. (ET) at the UIC Pavilion.

The game can be seen live online on the Horizon League Network and there will also be live stats for this contest. The Titans had won seven of eight before being tripped up on Thursday at Loyola. Four Titans scored in double figures as junior Senee Shearer tied her season high with 19 points, while senior Demeisha Fambro had 16 and senior Yar Shayok and sophomore Shareta Brown netted 13 apiece.

The loss has the Titans in third place in the Horizon League at 14-9 overall and 7-4 in the conference, just a game behind Youngstown State (18-6, 8-3 HL).

UIC started HL play at 2-1, but has lost six of eight and comes into the game with an 8-16 record, 4-7 in the conference. The Flames did pull off a big win on Thursday as they recorded an 81-78 victory in overtime against Wright State.

Rachel Story leads the team in scoring at 14.9 ppg. - sixth in the HL - and assists at 4.0 per game, seventh in the league. Katie Hannemann has turned it on recently and is averaging 14.0 ppg., and a team-high 7.2 rpg., which includes a 35-point, 15-rebound effort versus the Raiders on Thursday. She had 19 to lead UIC back in Detroit a few weeks ago.

UIC is eighth in the conference in scoring at 63.7 ppg., and seventh allowing 71.0 ppg.

Following the contest, the Titans will return home to play three of their final four games on Dick Vitale Court in Calihan Hall, starting with first-place Green Bay on Thursday. The special “Red Out” contest will begin at 7:00 p.m.

THE DETROIT-UIC SERIES
The series has been dominated by streaks as Detroit has posted five three-game winning streaks and has won two in a row heading into the game. Meanwhile, UIC has three, three-game winning streaks to its credit. UDM leads the all-time series, 24-18, but is just 7-9 at the UIC Pavilion in its history.

Detroit won the first meeting of the year, 74-68, but has dropped its last two on the road against the Flames, with the last win a 64-61 triumph in 2010.

START THINKING ABOUT PLAYOFFS
Just five games remain in the Horizon League regular season and the playoff races for seeding it just starting to heat up.

At the moment, Detroit is a game behind Youngstown State for second place in the Horizon League at 7-4 with both trailing Green Bay at 11-0 in HL play.

While catching the Phoenix is still in reach, UDM does have the upper hand in the battle for second place and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Horizon League Championship.

Even with the loss at Loyola, the Titans still control their own destiny for the No. 2 seed if they were to win out, which would mean beating YSU and Green Bay and giving UDM a tiebreaker over the Penguins due to a potential win over the Phoenix.

At the moment though, the Titans are in third with a game in hand over Loyola and three ahead of both Valparaiso and UIC.

COULD WE HAVE BACK-TO-BACK WINNING SEASONS?
The Titans posted their first 20-win season since 1997 last year and with two more wins, can clinch their first back-to-back winning seasons since 2001 (17-12) and 2002 (16-14).

Those two years were also the last time Detroit had back-to-back winning records in conference play as UDM was second in 2012 with a 14-4 mark.

Under Coach Rademacher, UDM has had two winning seasons in the last three years after having just one in its previous seven.

SHEARER NOW TOP 10 IN 3'S
Junior Senee Shearer has now recorded 108 career triples after hitting five more at Loyola her last time out.

The 108 career treys are now ninth in school history, passing Tia Winters (107, 1997-02) and just four away from Catie Goddard (2002-06), who has 112 for eighth.

COUNT IT
Detroit tallied 31 field goals at Loyola on Thursday, the seventh time this season the Titans have had at least 30 in a game.

The Titans had a season-high 39 against Lourdes back on Dec. 10, 37 versus Madonna, 35 against both Cleveland State and Western Michigan, 31 at Wright State and 30 at IPFW.

UNCHARACTERISTIC
The Titans came into the Loyola game 31st in the country with just 14.9 turnovers per game, but committed 22 against the Ramblers, the most since earlier in the year when they had 25 against #6/7 Penn State.

LONG RANGE TITANS
For the second time this year, the Titans were in double digits from behind the arc as they finished 10-of-25 from deep at Loyola.

The 10 treys were one behind the 11 Detroit had at Wright State on Jan. 16, which was the return of junior Senee Shearer to the team.

The 11 treys were the most since UDM hit 11 against Youngstown State on Jan.28, 2010.

ONE AWAY FROM 30
Senior Yar Shayok posted 13 points and 11 rebounds against Loyola her last time out, her sixth double-double this year and the 29th of her career.

BROWN TOP 10 IN THE NATION
In the latest NCAA stats, released on Friday sophomore Shareta Brown continues to be among the nation's leaders in scoring and field-goal percentage.

Brown is currently ninth in the nation in scoring at 21.4 ppg., and sixth in field-goal percentage hitting 57.9%.

The only Titan to ever lead the nation in a statistical category was Brigid Mulroy back in 2010 as she was first in three-point field-goal percentage (50.5%).

In her last nine games, she is tallying 13.2 ppg., and is averaging 11.0 points - second on the team and 19th in the HL - on the season.

Her six 30-point games are tied with Cassandra Pack (1983-87) for the most in school history in a career.

Her 43-point outburst is tied with IPFW's Amanda Hyde for the second highest in Division I this season.

INSTANT OFFENSE
Since coming off the bench against Cleveland State on Jan. 12, senior Yar Shayok has been an offensive weapon with double-digit performances in seven of 10 games, four double-doubles and a season-high 22 points against CSU on Jan. 31.

She started her surge at Cleveland State with 15 points and 10 rebounds and came back at Wright State with 12 points, 11 boards and four assists. Her latest efforts saw her tally 18 points and 13 caroms against Wright State and 13 points with 11 boards at Loyola.

ROSIE THE PLAYMAKER
Freshman Rosanna Reynolds has taken over the point guard duties for Detroit and leads the team with 97 assists, with her 4.2 apg., third in the Horizon League.

She is also fifth in the HL with a 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Another former teammate Jalesa Jones is the school's career leader in games played with 127.

Meanwhile, senior Demeisha Fambro played in her 115th career game wearing the red, white and blue versus the Raiders and is in eighth place in school history, just one game away from Katie Solner and seventh place.

DOMINATING THE BOARDS
Detroit has outrebounded its opponents in 18 of its 23 games - including nine times by double digits - and currently owns a +6.3 rebounding margin, good for first in the Horizon League and 37th in the nation.

UDM dominated the boards against #6/7 Penn State with a 46-31 advantage. UDM also completely owned the boards versus Canisius (44-28), WMU (49-36), against Lourdes (42-25), and versus Madonna (48-26).

Last season, Detroit won the battle of the boards in 23 of its 34 games, including 11 times by a double-digit margin.
