MACON, Ga. (2/25/2013) -- Sophomore goalkeeper
Lexie McCormick of the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team was recognized as the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week award on Monday for her efforts in a pair of games of the weekend.
McCormick is a recipient of the award for the first time in her career.
She made a career-high 15 saves in Friday's 13-7 loss at Siena and grabbed a team-high six ground balls and also had a caused turnover.
In Sunday's 15-1 victory at Delaware State, McCormick started the game in the cage and earned the win. She did not have to make a save in recording her first victory of the season.
McCormick is the second straight Titan to earn the Defensive Player of the Week award as senior captain
Zaynib Hamze was named one of the Atlantic Sun Co-Defensive Players of the Week last week.
The 2013 women's lacrosse campaign will continue as the Titans will head to Milwaukee to face Marquette on March 3 with game time set for 2:00 p.m. ET.
