Nick Minnerath has been named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3. The award is the first of Minnerath's career, and the third for the Titans this season.
Detroit (15-8, 7-3 Horizon) solidified its hold on second place in the Horizon League standings with an 83-76 win at Wright State before racing past Youngstown State, 88-77, on ESPNU.
Minnerath started the week by leading Detroit to a key road win at Wright State, scoring 18 points and collecting four rebounds. The senior went 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range. Minnerath saved his best effort of the week for Friday, when he scored a game-high 27 points against Youngstown State.
The effort was the fourth time this season Minnerath has exceeded 20 points, and the forward is one of five Detroit starters averaging 10 or more points on the year. On the week, Minnerath was 14-of-25 from the field, including a 6-of-14 mark from three-point range.
Detroit will head on its Wisconsin swing this week, beginning at Milwaukee on Thursday, Feb. 7. The Horizon League Network will have live coverage, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Titans will meet Green Bay on Saturday, Feb. 9 in the Horizon League Network Game of the Week at 2:00 p.m. ET.
