SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (3/1/13) - The Detroit women's tennis team defeated Wayne State by a tally of 5-2 on Friday night at the Franklin Athletic Club.
The Titans earned the doubles point quickly, dropping only four sets in the three matches.
Irina Slizovskaya and
Nino Sujashvili blanked their opponent, 8-0, at second doubles.
Julia Fernandes and
Elena Strakhova took their match, 8-2, at first doubles and
Chloe Karoub and Valery Kulikovskaya also won 8-2 at third doubles.
Karoub won her match at first singles in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5, and Sujashvili took hers at second singles, 6-2, 6-0. Slizovskaya and
Elena Strakhova both defeated their opponents, 6-1, 6-0, with Slizovskaya's win coming at fourth singles and Strakhova's at sixth.
UDM is now 3-3 and will continue the dual match season when it travels to Duquesne on March 16.
