Detroit's last trip to the NIT came the following year, but didn't last long as the Titans dropped their first round game at Dayton (80-69).
SERIES WITH No. 3 ARIZONA STATE
The Titans and Arizona State (22-12, 9-9 PAC-12) will be meeting for the fourth time on the hardwood, with the Sun Devils leading the all-time series 2-1. Detroit won the last meeting 71-66 at the 1995 ASU Tribune Classic.

LAST TIME OUT
Detroit's defence of its 2012 Horizon League Tournament Championship came to an end on a rushed last-second shot as third-seeded Wright State downed Detroit, 56-54, Saturday night in a semifinal game at the ARC.
Junior
Jason Calliste had a game-high 17 points and a team-high five assists and junior
Evan Bruinsma tallied 15 points and three rebounds. Seniors
Doug Anderson and
Nick Minnerath had eight points apiece, while
Ray McCallum totaled five points, seven rebounds, and five steals.
The game featured 14 ties and nine lead changes, but a three from Calliste with 1:13 left tied the score at 54-all. Detroit then was able to force a miss and get the ball back, but it was not able to capitalize on its next possession and the Raiders took over with 14.8 seconds on the clock. UDM played great defense, but WSU's Miles Dixon was able to just get off a shot as time expired, sending the second-seeded Raiders to the championship game.
Detroit ended the day shooting 42.2 percent on 19-of-45 from the field - the lowest field goals attempted by the red, white and blue on the season - while the Raiders were 22-of-42 (52.4). UDM forced 17 turnovers and had a 23-7 tally in points off turnovers and a 12-0 advantage on second-chance points, but the Titans were outrebounded 29-21.

He recorded the most points in a single game this season in the Horizon League with 36 against Valparaiso on Jan. 17.

COACH McCALLUM NAMED JOBE FINALIST
Detroit head coach
Ray McCallum was named a finalist for the 2013 Ben Jobe award, which is presented annually to the top minority coach in division I men's basketball.

Since McCallum has taken over, the Titans have increased their conference win total in every season (2, 9, 10, 11 and 12). Detroit has also increased its place in the regular season standings each season under McCallum (10th, 7th, T5th, T3rd and 2nd).
The 2013 recipient will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet in Atlanta, site of the men's NCAA Basketball Championship.
