GAMEDAY CENTRAL        Game Notes

DETROIT (4/12/2013) --
The UDM men's lacrosse team will look to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this year when the Titans make the trip through Canada and into upstate New York to battle the Saints of Siena on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m., at the Siena Turf Field.

The game will be televised by local Time Warner Sports for fans and alums in the New York area. There will be free live stats for this event as well as a live video feed, available for a small fee. Titan fans can follow every UDM game this season through the men's lacrosse GAMEDAY CENTRAL page located on the Titans Athletic Website that will keep fans one click away from all the action. This page will feature links for live stats (audio and video when applicable) as well as links for all the latest info while also making it easy to find the Titans on social media and to purchase photos and game tickets.

Detroit comes into the game at 2-2 in the MAAC, 2-7 overall, following a 14-8 win against Manhattan last week. The 14 goals were a season high as Detroit reached double-digit goals for the second time in three games.

Sophomore Mike Birney posted a career-high five points and four goals last week and is now tied for the team lead with 22 points (15g, 7a). Junior Alex Maini has 22 points on the strength of 14 goals and eight assists, while sophomore Scott Drummond now has 12 points on seven goals and five helpers.

Seniors Jamie Hebden, Jordan Houtby and A.J. Levell continue to pace a Titan defense that has allowed just 90 goals on the year, third lowest in the MAAC. Detroit also leads the conference in penalty killing at 75.0%, allowing just 12 goals in 48 opportunities, as well as caused turnovers (10.00) and save percentage (54.1%).

Hebden is currently second in the nation in caused turnovers at 2.89 per game, while the two-time MAAC LSM of the Year Houtby is 11th causing 2.11 per contest. Levell ranks 19th in the nation with 11.43 saves per game, 25th in save percentage (54.1) and 27th in goals against average (9.78).

Siena comes into the game at 4-7, 2-1 in the MAAC after two-straight wins over Manhattan (11-8) and at Canisius (16-6). A win by Siena would clinch a spot in the MAAC Tournament for the Saints, who have won 32 of their last 34 regular season conference games and 16 of their last 17 home MAAC games with the lone loss to Detroit in 2011.

Conor Prunty leads the team in scoring – and is fourth in the league - with 30 points on 20 goals and 10 assists. His 20 goals are tied for the team lead with regaining MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Colin Clive, who also has five assists for 25 points. Casey Dowd is the faceoff specialist winning 54.2% (150-of-277) with a team-high 81 ground balls, while Joe Ednie leads the defense with 11 caused turnovers and 22 GB's. Matt Sharp has started all 11 games in goal and has 143 saves, a 52.2% save percentage and a 12.12 goals against average.

Siena is second in the league in scoring at 11.18 goals per game, while allowing 11.96, fourth in the MAAC.

Detroit is 1-3 all-time against Siena, but the last two games were quite different then the first two. UDM dropped the first-ever meeting on the road, 9-8, in 2010 in a game it led 7-6 with 9:53 left in the fourth, and then came back to shock the Saints, 13-11, in Loudonville in 2011, ending their 20-game MAAC regular-season winning streak.  Siena came back with a 12-3 victory in the 2011 MAAC Championship game – a contest that saw UDM leading scorer Shayne Adams out with an injury – and then defeated the Titans in the Motor City last year, 15-8.

UDM's other two road games in the next week will have the red, white and blue at Michigan on Wednesday (Apr. 17) and at Marquette next Saturday (Apr. 20).
