DETROIT (4/30/2013) --
After very successful and fun camps the past two years, the Titan Club, along with Detroit Titan Athletics, is excited to announce that the Third Annual Titan Club Basketball Camp for Special Needs Players will take place on Friday, June 28, 2013.

This unique and exciting event will provide a great opportunity for special needs athletes of all ability levels to learn and develop skills in a fun environment. The event will take place at historic Calihan Hall on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy.

Campers will receive individual and group basketball instructions and will hear from members of the Detroit Titans Division I men's and women's basketball programs. The camp is open to kids 12 years of age and older and is designed for persons with trainable mental impairment (TMI), educable mental impairment (EMI) & other developmental or physical disabilities. Hospitality for parents and guardians is also provided at no additional charge and you are encouraged to stay to watch and cheer!

Registration for the special needs basketball camp costs just $15, which includes a camp t-shirt for each participant, a Certificate of Completion, and a gift. Fill out and return the registration form to sign up a participant. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. that morning and the camp will run from 9:00–12:00.

Titan Club members and others who would like to help with the event can do so in a few ways.

• Sponsor a camper for as little as $15, to defray the costs for families who may need financial assistance.

• Volunteer at the event, in one of many needed capacities. Return the volunteer registration form to Titan Athletics if you choose to sponsor or volunteer.

• Help spread the word by passing the camp flyer on to any families you know who have special needs athletes.

The registration deadline is Wednesday June 26th, and the camp is expected to sell out this year! Those who are interested should contact Melissa Kopriva by phone at 313-993-1705 or by e-mail at melissa.kopriva@udmercy.edu or Ruth Fruge' by phone at 313-993-1728 or by e-mail at ruth.fruge@udmercy.edu . You can also stop by Titan Athletics to sign up today, or mail the registration form linked at the top of the story.
