DETROIT (9/7/2013)
-- It was lacrosse alumni day for the University of Detroit Mercy as both the men's and women's programs welcomed alumni back to campus for a little competition, celebration, and good times.

Both the UDM men's and women's lacrosse teams hosted alumni games with the women taking to the field first. The women started at 2:00 p.m. with a team of alumni and upperclassmen that beat the varsity underclassmen by a 12-8 score.

The men's varsity team then took the field following the women's game and played against the current varsity team. The men's alumni were also victorious finishing with a 16-13 victory and bragging rights for another year.

Light rain started to fall on Titan Field as the women's game began but by the time the men's game was over, the sun was shining brightly on UDM lacrosse.

"It was exciting to see everyone back and to have a whole team of alumni. Our program continues to grow and it is a great feeling," said UDM men's lacrosse head coach Matt Holtz who begins his sixth year as the head coach of the program.

After the back-to-back games, everyone stayed around for a cookout and refreshments while a few words were shared from both the men's and women's head coaches.

"We get more alums every year and it is great to meet new people and see them come back and talk about lacrosse," said UDM women's lacrosse head coach Laura Maness who is in her third year with Detroit in 2013-14.
