LAST OUTING
Green Bay (17-3, 7-0 HL) made 34 free throws as the Phoenix rallied late to top the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team 62-52 Sunday afternoon at the Resch Center. Two Titans scored in double figures as Detroit split its weekend trip to Wisconsin.

Senior co-captain Evan Bruinsma led Detroit with 14 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Carlton Brundidge added 11 points and six boards.

Detroit (9-13, 2-5 HL) led 50-49 with 7:53 left, before the Phoenix closed the game with a 13-2 run to win their 12th straight game. Green Bay made 6-of-7 free throw opportunities in the closing minutes to seal the win.

Detroit shot 31.5 percent (17-of-54) overall, while holding Green Bay to just 28.3 percent (13-46). But the Phoenix made up for their shooting woes by making 82.9 percent from the free throw line (34-41), while Detroit finished 14-20 from the charity stripe.

ABOUT THE FLAMES
With 4.4 seconds left to play and the Flames in front by two, Oakland's Duke Mondy dribbled the length of the court and sank a game-winning three as time expired. After the referees reviewed the buzzer-beater for several minutes, they upheld their original call as Oakland (8-14, 3-4) slipped past UIC (5-16, 0-7) by final of 76-75.

Senior Jordan Harks paced the Flames with a career-high 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting, while senior Kelsey Barlow recorded 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.  Barlow now has six 20-plus point performances on the season.

UIC led the majority of the game and held a 40-31 advantage at halftime.  The Flames built that lead up to 12 points with just over 13 minutes left to play.  That's when Oakland started to apply full-court pressure and forced UIC to commit 13 second-half turnovers. The Grizzles capitalized and scored 24 points off of Flames' miscues in the second period alone.

SERIES WITH UIC
This will be the 41st meeting between Detroit and UIC, with the Titans leading the all-time series 27-13. Detroit swept the series last year, which included a 98-47 thumping on Homecoming at Calihan Hall. The 51 point spread is the Largest margin of victory ever recorded in the Horizon League, passing the previous record of 46 when Marquette beat Loyola, 82-36, on Jan. 19, 1991.

FRESHMAN BACKCOURT
On Friday, Jan. 24 at Milwaukee the Titans started freshman guards Matthew Grant and Jarod Williams in the backcourt for the first time this season, making the pair the first freshman guards to start for Detroit since Ray McCallum and Jason Calliste did in 2010. The only difference being that both Grant and Williams are true freshmen, while in 2010 Calliste was a redshirt freshman. The last time two true freshmen started in the Titan backcourt together dates back to the 1980-81 season when Audie Matthews and Mark Moore started 13 games together.

CLEANING THE GLASS
Entering Wednesday's game the Titans lead the Horizon League in offensive rebounds with 12.5 per game and ranks third overall with 37.6 per game. Senior co-captain Evan Bruinsma leads the team and ranks second in the League with 7.8 boards per game, while Ugochukwu Njoku (6.0) and Juwan Howard Jr. (5.8) rank ninth and 10th.

UP NEXT
Detroit will continue its two-game home stand when the Titans welcome Cleveland State to Calihan Hall on Friday, Jan. 31. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ESPNU with Jim Barber and Malcolm Huckaby making the call.
