Williams Named HL Freshman of the Week

- University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball freshman guard Jarod Williams has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week following strong performances against Bethune-Cookman and Wright State. Williams is the second Titan to win this award this season.

Starting his 11th and 12th games for Detroit (8-8, 1-0 HL), Williams notched 10 points and five rebounds in the Titans' non-conference win over Bethune-Cookman, before following that up with seven points, three assists and two blocked shots against Wright State. Williams leads Detroit with 40 assists on the year, and is averaging 8.1 points per game.

Detroit will continue Horizon League play when the Titans visit Cleveland State on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Wolstein Center and can be listened to LIVE on 1270 AM with Dan Leach the voice of Titan Basketball.
