Adams, Weber Tabbed MAAC Players Of The Week

EDISION, N.J. (4/28/2014) --- For the second time this year, the University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team took home a pair of weekly conference honors as junior Shayne Adams was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Jason Weber earned the Defensive Player of the Week, announced the MAAC on Monday.

It is the third time this year that Adams has earned the Offensive Player of the Week – and the fourth time in his career - while Weber was selected the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time to go with his Rookie of the Week accolade earlier in the year.

Adams tied his season high with six goals and tied his season and career high with seven points in the Titans' 11-6 road victory over Monmouth, a win that helped Detroit get in the MAAC Championship. At one point in the game, he scored five straight goals and he now leads the MAAC with a career-best 36 markers and is third in the league with a career-best 43 points.

He is now also 10th in the nation with 2.77 goals per game and his 114 career goals is currently tied for the 11th most among active players in NCAA Division I.

Adams was also named the offensive Player of the Week on Apr. 7 following his six goals and seven points in a come-from-behind win over Marist as well as on Mar. 24 after he tallied three goals and four points in a road triumph at Canisius.

Weber continued his stellar play in between the pipes as he posted 18 saves against the Hawks, the fourth time this season that he has had 18 or more saves in a game. He allowed just six goals, the fourth time this season he has given up just six in a game, and Monmouth had just two scores at the half.

He now has 163 saves on the season – second in the school record book – and leads the NCAA with 16.30 saves per game and a .647 save percentage, while also leading the MAAC and standing 15th in the country with an 8.87 goals against average.

Weber was named the Defensive Player of the Week back on Mar. 24 after stopping 17 shots and allowing just six goals versus Canisius, and he was the Rookie of the Week on Mar. 10 after recording 33 saves and a .623 save percentage in a loss to Bellarmine and a road win at VMI.

The Titans will be back in action on Thursday as the red, white and blue open the MAAC Championship Semifinals at second-seeded Marist. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
