DETROIT (2/20/2015) -- In support of the American Cancer Society, the University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics is set to host a Pink Game and Purple Game in back-to-back nights during the final week of the men's and women's basketball regular season inside historic Calihan Hall.
The Purple Game is set for Wednesday, Feb. 25, as the Titans host first-place Valparaiso in a 7:00 p.m. contest. It's also Senior Night for the men's basketball team as UDM will honor seniors
Juwan Howard Jr. and
Brandan Kearney prior to the contest.
The UDM women's squad is set to host defending Horizon League champion Wright State the following night on Feb. 26 in a Pink Game at 7 p.m. inside Calihan Hall. Both games are the regular-season finales for each squad.
Fans are encouraged to wear purple and pink to the respective games in support of cancer survivors and to raise awareness for breast cancer. Purple and pink colored balls may be purchased at each game for $2 each or five balls for $5, to be thrown to center court at halftime in support of the American Cancer Society. Proceeds from the game will also go to ACS.
Nadine Rivers, a breast cancer survivor, will also sing the National Anthem at both games.
The Detroit women's basketball squad will also wear its pink uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness in their regular-season finale.
