Brianne Cohen (Toronto, Ont. / York Memorial) each received honors following their performances last week. Reynolds was named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Monday by the league office and Cohen earned the College Sports Madness HL Player of the Week honor.
The Horizon League weekly award was the second for Reynolds in three weeks and fifth in her career. Reynolds averaged 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists with the Titans going 3-0 at home during the week. She scored in double figures in all three games and recorded her fourth HL double-double of the year against Youngstown State, totaling 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.
Reynolds became the first player in school history to surpass the 1,500-point and 500-assist plateau during the week, becoming the fifth Titan to reach 1,500 points when she sank a 3-pointer against Northern Kentucky in the fourth quarter. She collected her 500th assist against Cleveland State in the second quarter, becoming just the second Titan to reach the mark.
Cohen had an equally strong week, averaging 17.0 points and 4.0 rebounds, while shooting 60.0 percent (21-of-35) from the floor. Following a nine-point performance against the Norse, Cohen tallied 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocks vs. the Penguins. Cohen notched the fourth 20-point game of the season with a season-best 24 points in Sunday's win over Cleveland State. She shot 9-of-11 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line against the Vikings.
Detroit Mercy improved to 5-0 at home and 6-2 in the Horizon League overall. It's fifth-straight HL win to start the league season at home is the best since 2009-10.
The Titans return to the court this weekend, facing Wright State on Friday in Dayton in a showdown with the Raiders. It'll be a battle between the second and third-place teams in the Horizon League at the midway point of the regular season.
