DETROIT (1/20/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team staged another second-half comeback, but it just wasn't enough as the Titans dropped a 92-86 tussle to Metro Series rival Oakland on Saturday evening in historic Calihan Hall.

The Titans (6-15, 2-6 HL) were down by as many as 23 to Oakland (13-8, 5-3 HL), but trimmed that to four with less than 20 seconds left.

The Titans trailed by as many as 21 in the first half, but Detroit Mercy would not stay down. They came out shooting in the second and outscored the Golden Grizzlies, 57-42.

The red, white and blue was relentless in the last 3:30 of the game. Allen had a four-point play at 3:22 to cut the deficit to 10. That was followed by a lay-up and a pair of free throws which cut the deficit to seven points. Freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr. would then hit a corner three with 27 ticks left to cut the deficit to only six, 86-80.
