ROCHESTER, Mich. (2/9/2018) -- There was nothing but heat inside the O'rena on Friday night as the Titans and Golden Grizzlies were hot shooting the ball, but a second-half run by Oakland was the difference as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team fell, 87-78, in another exciting #MetroSeries contest.

Five Titans scored in double figures led by redshirt junior
Kameron Chatman's 23 points. Junior
Josh McFolley had 13 points with five steals and graduate senior
Roschon Prince posted his second double-double of the year with 10 points and a team and season-high 13 boards.

The Titans (7-19, 3-10 HL) shot 43.3 percent from the field with 10 from behind the line, while Oakland (16-10, 8-5 HL) connected on 48.3 percent netting eight 3-pointers.

Detroit Mercy got off to a slow start trailing 13-0, but came right back with a 17-3 charge to take 17-16 lead. The Titans outscored the Golden Grizzlies 45-25 after that start and led 45-38 at the break.

Oakland began the second stanza on a 12-4 spurt and ran its lead to as many as 11, but the red, white and blue trimmed that to five on a couple of occasions.Â
Senior
DeShawndre Black ended with 11 points, four assists and three rebounds and sophomore
Corey Allen tallied 11 points in his return after missing the last two games with an illness.Â

Detroit Mercy will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 14, as the Titans visit Cleveland State in a 7 p.m. tip.
First Half:
- Oakland started the game on a 13-0 run in the first five minutes.
- Prince stopped that with an offensive rebound and layup with a foul, which ignited the Titans on a 17-3 charge.
- A three by Allen and then Chatman's first bucket made it a 14-8 game at the 13:40 mark.
- After an Oakland basket, the Titans came up with three-straight 3-pointers from Black, Chatman and McFolley, the last giving Detroit Mercy a 17-16 lead with 11:52 left.
- The lead changed hands and was tied a few times after that, but a triple from Chatman and a layup from Black had the Titans ahead 35-30 with 4:47 remaining.
- Another three, this time from freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr. pushed the advantage to six, 38-32, before a basket by McFolley had the team up 45-38 at the break.
- After that 13-0 run, the Titans ended the last 15 minutes outscoring Oakland 45-25 as they shot 52.3 percent in the half and were 10-of-16 from the outside.Â
- Chatman had 13 at the break and McFolley tallied 11.Â
Second Half:
- The Golden Grizzlies got off to another quick start going on a 12-4 run to jump ahead 50-49 less than five minutes into the half.
- A layup by Prince put the Titans back in front, 51-50, but that was the last lead Detroit Mercy had.
- Oakland opened a 10-point advantage, 69-59, with 7:43 left but a jumper from Black and a steal and layup from McFolley cut that deficit to six.
- The Titans them found themselves down by 11, 74-63, when they started to chip away as two free throws from Prince pulled the red, white and blue within five, 76-71, with 3:40 left.
- Oakland was able to hold off that charge for the win.Â

- It was the 13th time this season the Titans have hit 10 or more 3-pointers in a game
- It was the seventh time this season the Titans have had five players in double figures in scoring
- It was Chatman's 11th, 20-point game of the season
- Black was in double figures in scoring for the second time in three games
- McFolley was in double figures for the third-straight game, the second time this season he has had that streak
- McFolley now has 15 steals in his last three games and 11 in his last two as he had a career-high six against UIC
- Prince's season high in rebounds was 10 done twice this season, while his career high is 14 against Cal State Fullerton last season
