DETROIT (5/9/2018) – It is graduation week at the University of Detroit Mercy as the Titans put the finishing touches on another year of academic excellence.
Recently at the annual University Honors Convocation, a number of current and former student-athletes and spirit-squad members received a plethora of accolades for all their hard work off away from competition.
For the 2017-18 season, the Titans posted a 3.321 cumulative GPA.
Alpha Sigma Nu Candidates
Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of Jesuit institutions of higher education, recognizes those students who distinguish themselves in scholarship, loyalty and service. The only honor society permitted to bear the name Jesuit, ΑΣΝ encourages its members to a lifetime pursuit of intellectual development, deepening Ignatian spirituality, service to others and a commitment to the core principles of Jesuit education.

Accounting Award
An award presented annually to an outstanding Accounting graduating senior in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
Beta Alpha Psi Award
A plaque and a certificate of merit given each year by Beta Alpha Psi (Alpha Xi Chapter) to its graduating member who has earned the highest scholastic average in his/her total undergraduate program.
Alpha Iota Delta Award
An award given by the Delta Mu Chapter to an outstanding graduating senior and to an outstanding graduate student in Decision Sciences and Information Systems in recognition of academic achievement, commitment to service, and ethical and moral standards.

Global Jesuit Business Student Association Achievement Award
Students attending Jesuit business schools worldwide, through their personal and professional ventures, are committed to enriching the communities in which they live and work as well as establishing the benchmark for socially responsible organizations. The Global Jesuit Business Student Association (GJBSA) award is given to an undergraduate student and to a graduate student in recognition of their academic achievements and community involvement.
Finance Award
An award presented to an outstanding Finance graduating senior and to an outstanding Finance graduate student who demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement and show exceptional promise as scholars in this field.
Financial Executives International Award
This award is presented to an outstanding undergraduate student and to an outstanding graduate student in Accounting and/or Finance. The awardees will have their names inscribed on a plaque and receive recognition at a dinner meeting sponsored by the Detroit chapter of Financial Executives International.
Marketing Award
An award presented to an outstanding Marketing graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement and shows exceptional promise a scholar in this field.
Beta Gamma Sigma Award
An award presented by Beta Gamma Sigma (Beta of Michigan Chapter) to a graduating member in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
Dean's Leadership Key
A key given annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership and involvement in University-approved co-curricular activities and, at the same time, has maintained overall academic excellence.
Dr. Leonard E. Plachta Accounting Scholarship
The primary focus of the scholarship is to encourage qualified junior, senior, and/or master's degree accounting students who aspire to teach accounting at the collegiate level, to become Ph.Ds. If there are no such qualified candidates, the scholarship may be awarded to promising accounting majors at the master's, junior, or senior levels.
Rev. Gerald F. Cavanagh, S.J., Endowed Scholarship
Established by University of Detroit Mercy alumni, faculty and friends to honor Fr. Cavanagh, the Rev. Gerald F. Cavanagh, S.J. Endowed Scholarship provides support of an undergraduate business major in the College of Business Administration who engages in the most meaningful service-learning experiences as determined by the College of Business Administration and who maintains good academic standing.
Dean's Honor Certificate
A certificate presented annually by the Dean of the College of Business Administration to Business Administration undergraduate students who have earned at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for all previous work taken at University of Detroit Mercy

The John Daniels Student Servant Leader of the Year
The student awarded The John Daniels Student Servant Leader of the Year award has shown outstanding growth throughout their undergraduate career at Detroit Mercy and has distinguished his/herself by exemplary commitment in the role of servant leader. This award is named for John Daniels, Director of the Institute for Leadership and Service from 2001-09.
Scholar Key Awards
Scholar Key Awards are given as follows: Freshmen with 12-31 credit hours must have a 4.0. Sophomores with 32-62 credit hours must have a 3.9 or above. Juniors with 63-94 credit hours must have a 3.8 or above. Seniors with 95 or more credit hours must have a 3.8 or above.

Elihu Geer Scholastic Achievement Award
Awarded to the Senior Architectural or Civil Engineer in the Structures/Foundation/Construction Option having the highest GPA.
Tau Beta Pi
Presented to the full-time sophomore (second year) engineering student who has attained the highest overall GPA in his/her academic studies.
John J. Uicker Award
Presented to the Mechanical Engineering student having the highest scholastic standing in upper division courses. John J. Uicker began his career at the College as Instructor in 1941 and rose to Professor and Acting Dean. He retired as Professor Emeritus in 1973.
Eta Kappa Nu
Presented to the outstanding sophomore Electrical Engineering student who has proven him/ herself through high scholastic achievement and personal attributes, worthy of consideration for future membership in Eta Kappa Nu.
Thomas C. Hanson Scholastic Achievement Award
Awarded to the senior Environmental or Civil Engineer in the Urban-Environmental option, having the highest GPA.

Lee Holmberg Student Achievement Award
Lee Holmberg taught by example how to manage multiple priorities. This award is given to the HSA student who most demonstrates his ideals.
Internship Award
This award is given in recognition of outstanding accomplishments at the internship site.
Honors Awards
This award is given to honor the Health Information Management student majoring in HIM and minoring in Leadership and maintaining a qualifying grade point average.
Dean's Scholar Award — Undergraduate
In recognition of scholastic achievement with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 for a minimum of 30 credit hours of undergraduate course work completed at Detroit Mercy while earning first undergraduate degree.

Communication Excellence Award
Presented to a graduating communication studies senior who has demonstrated academic excellence and who has applied communication competence to benefit the community.
Howard Walsh Memorial Award
Presented to the English major who has demonstrated the greatest proficiency in English language and literature; the award was founded in 1927 by Annie Doheny Walsh.
Economics Award
Presented to a student majoring in economics or financial economics who shows exceptional promise in the field.
Dean's Gold Key Award
Presented annually to honor freshmen with at least 15 hours in residence who have achieved a 4.0 grade point average; sophomores and juniors with 30 or more hours in residence who have achieved at least a 3.90 grade point average; and seniors with 30 or more hours in residence who have achieved at least a 3.80 grade point average.
