Sophomore Alex Akins (Indianapolis, Ind.) was part of a Titan defense that allowed just two goals in the final 39 minutes of an 8-7 overtime victory over Mercer on Sunday. Akins grabbed a career-high seven ground balls and tied a career-best with three caused turnovers. Detroit Mercy earned its first win of the season in thrilling action, tying the contest with 19 seconds left before scoring in overtime for the triumph.
