Director of Operations
Jack Sydorchuk joined the Titan Athletic Department as an Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities in March of 2022.
He joined Detroit Mercy after working as a team attendant for the Motor City Cruise and Detroit Pistons. He was also an interim equipment manager at his alma mater, Wayne State.
He graduated from Wayne State with a degree in Sport Management in 2021
Q & A To A Few Routine Issues
Why do I need my ID card for Calihan Hall?
- For the first time, all entrances to Calihan Hall will be locked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including the NE entrance doors.
- Your ID card will be the only way to gain access to the building this year.
- Secondly, your ID card also gets you access to the Academic Center located above stairwell 10 on the second floor of Calihan Hall.
Where do I go to get my card activated?
- You can visit Jack Sydorchuk, Director of Operations, inside Calihan Hall. Or you can email him at sydorcje@udmercy.edu.
What should I do if I forgot my ID card and can’t get in the building?
- You can call your coach, the main office line at 313-993-1700 or contact Public Safety at 313-993-1234.
- The best course of action would be to go back to your car or room to retrieve your ID.
If there is a cleanliness issue in my team’s locker room or showers, who should I contact?
- Please contact Jack Sydorchuk Assistant Director of Operations at 313-570-3540 for any housekeeping or facilities issue in Calihan.
- This includes cleanliness, broken windows, burnt out lights, plumbing, and more.
- Simply text Jack Sydorchuk with your name, areas of concern and the location of the issue.
I showed up for practice but my laundry loop wasn’t in my locker room, what should I do?
- The first thing you should do if this happens is go to the equipment room to look for your loop.
- If no staff is currently present, contact Jack Sydorchuk, Director of Operations
I was given a towel from the equipment room, can I keep it?
- No, you must return all towels to the equipment room after use.
- They are washed daily and placed out for all student-athletes to use for workouts and practices.
- We have a limited supply of towels and need them returned daily.
- Do not leave towels in your lockers; take them back to your rooms, apartments, or cars.
What are the building hours and equipment room hours?
- Although there are no designated public hours for Calihan Hall this year, athletic facilities and equipment room staff will be available in Calihan Hall Monday through Friday, 8 am – 10 pm.
- Weekend hours will vary throughout the year.
Am I allowed in the building without my coaches or staff present?
- As a student-athlete, we want you in Calihan Hall as much as possible; however, at no time should you be in the building without your coaches or athletic department staff present in the building.
- This includes your locker room, workout areas such as the weight room, indoor track, indoor golf area, batting cages or gymnasium.
- Public Safety will remove you from the building if you are in Calihan Hall unsupervised.
Does Calihan Hall have a lost and found?
- Athletic Facilities manages all lost and found items.
