Junior pitcher Ashley Mauser (Shelby Township, Mich. / Utica) fired a career-high eight strikeouts as the Titans earned a 5-2 league-opening win Friday over the defending Horizon League champs, UIC. Mauser threw a complete game, allowing just five hits and zero earned runs. Overall on the weekend against UIC, Mauser tossed 14.1 innings, allowing 14 hits and five earned runs for a 2.44 ERA, while striking out 12.
