Sophomore Casey McCarthy picked a great time for his first collegiate goal. In the 38th minute, McCarthy got control of a free kick in traffic and fired a rocket from just outside the box, beating Yerian to the right side and giving Detroit Mercy a 3-2 lead, which it would hold for the conference win.
