Senior hurler Ashley Mauser (Shelby Township, Mich.) broke the career strikeouts record in the season opener on Friday, notching nine strikeouts to surpass the career mark of 256, which was held by Titan Hall of Famer Cindy Crosbie. Mauser helped Detroit Mercy to a 3-2 weekend at the Total Control Sports Invitational in Chicago, starting three games in the circle and striking out 18 batters in 13.2 innings.
