Senior track and field standout Ben Kendell (Huntington Woods, Mich.) earned his ninth career Horizon League victory in his final league meet, capturing the 5,000-meter run Sunday in record-breaking time. Kendell set a new Horizon League record in the event with a time of 14:23.94, breaking the old league mark set in 2006 by more than six seconds. Kendell was honored as the 2019Â Horizon League Male Outdoor Athlete of the Year earlier in the week after a standout outdoor track and field season. Kendell has also qualified for the NCAA Preliminary Round in the 10,000m and is set to compete in Jacksonville, Fla. in late May.
