Men's Soccer Comes Up Short to Visiting Cleveland State

The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team came up short at Titan Field Friday afternoon in Horizon League action as Cleveland State University edged the Titans by a score of 1-0. UDM falls to 2-9-1 overall (1-4-1 HL), while the Vikings improve to 6-6-2 on the year (4-2-0).

The lone goal of the game was scored at 38:42 as CSU junior Kevin Malone dished out a pass to junior Josh Williams who beat a few Titan defenders on the right side and watched the ball roll into the bottom right corner of the net.

Junior #Bryan Kloss# (Fraser, MI/Bishop Foley) was in net the entire match for the Titans and tallied two saves, while allowing one goal. For CSU, sophomore netminder Nick Harpel tallied three saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Titans outshot the Vikings, 19-6, and Detroit also had a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.

UDM will take a break from Horizon League action and travel to Kalamazoo on Oct. 19 to face Western Michigan at 1 p.m.
