2008 Falcon Invite Results in pdf
In its last meet before the Horizon League Championship, the UDM women's cross country team totaled 168 points on its way to a sixth-place finish at the Falcon Invite on Saturday morning. The 6k race was held at the Forrest Creason Golf Course on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
The Titans were led by senior Jennifer DeFauw (Harper Woods, MI/GP North), who placed 36th with a career time of 24:00. In their 6k debut, freshmen Stephanie Rossman (Caledonia, MI/Caledonia) and Kristina Arko (Euclid, OH/Euclid) finished right behind DeFauw in 37th and 38th place, respecively. Rossman turned in a time of 24:03, while Arko crossed the line at 24:11.
"Jen is running well and having a great season," said head coach Guy Murray. "Steph keeps improving and is quietly having a very good rookie season."
Sophomore Kayleigh Toombs (Byron Center, MI/Byron Center) took 46th in a personal best 24:22. Sophomore harrier Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON/St. Theresa Catholic) was 61st clocked at 24:54, while senior Terricita Thomas (Maple Heights, OH/Maple Heights) hit a new career mark with a time of 24:57, good for 62nd place.
Rounding out the Titan runners were seniors Chrissy Bieling (93rd - 27:01) and Chanteneel McClendon (99th - 27:40).
"Overall, we did a nice job with our first 6k of the season," said Murray. "We have had some issues with 6k's in the past so it was good to get a positive one in before the HL meet."
Detroit will now have two weeks off before the Horizon League Championship, held on Nov. 1 at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.
