The Detroit Titans men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback against visiting Oakland in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Titan Field. With the loss, Detroit falls to 4-10-1 on the season, while Oakland improves to 11-4 overall.
OU outshot Detroit by a 16-9 margin and was led by Makesi Lewis, who recorded a goal and assist. Stefan St. Louis and Piotr Nowak also added goals, while Wade Allan tallied two assists.
UDM recorded eight of its nine shots in the second half led by freshmen #Sam Seppo# (Port Huron, MI/Port Huron) and #Adam Philp# (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph's Catholic) who each had two apiece.
Oakland took a 1-0 advantage in the 16th minute of the first half as Lewis was able to control a UDM clear attempt and put a shot to the right post past junior goalkeeper Bryan Kloss (Fraser, MI/Bishop Foley Catholic). The Golden Grizzlies struck again as Allan pushed the ball up the left side to Lewis who crossed it over to St. Louis just outside the 18-yard line. St. Louis then moved in and ripped a shot to the left post putting OU up 2-0 heading into half time.
Early in the second half, Detroit had its best scoring chance as senior #Renato Susnja# (Dearborn, MI/Schoolcraft CC) broke in on the right side, but just missed with a shot to the right post.
During the 22nd minute, the Titans also had three consecutive corner kick opportunities, but failed to capitalize.
Oakland later added a goal by Nowak who headed in a cross from Allan at the 80:12 mark.
Detroit resumes Horizon League action against Butler at Titan Field on Friday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m.
