In its first Horizon League contest on Titan Field this season, the University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team ended in a 1-1 tie with Milwaukee Friday evening. The Titans overall record now stands at 2-6-1 (1-1-1 HL), while the Panthers are now 3-3-4 (0-1-2) on the year.
In the 16th minute, UDM junior Ali Youssef hit a laser of a shot to the center of the net, but heard the ball hit the top post to watch it drop down and not cross the goal line. Teammate Renato Susnja was there for the rebound and made contact with the ball and shot it into the net for his second goal of the season.
At the 73:29 mark, senior UWM Adam Skalecki dribbled the ball from midfield and then fed it to freshman Eric Frazier who then played it to the middle of the net to knot the score at 1-1.
Detroit had a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks, while Milwaukee outshot Detroit 19-14 on the night.
Kloss played the first half in goal for the Titans and tallied six saves, while senior #Luke Paneccasio# allowed one goal in 65 minutes of action and collected three saves. Milwaukee senior keeper Grant Fernstrum played the entire game for the Panthers and ended with six saves, while allowing one goal.
The Titans will return to action when they host Green Bay on Oct. 5 at noon, which precedes the women's game against Butler. At halftime of the men's match, the 1996 MCC Championship team will be honored.
